Brizio Basi has been, during the last decades, a reference point in the design and construction of advanced vacuum systems dedicated to the glass processing sector and the production of abrasive finishing tools.
Our systems for the glass sector leverage several specialized technologies to improve both process efficiency and product performance:
High-Temperature Sulfur Treatment
This process enables the impregnation of abrasive tools, such as superfinishing stones, with sulfur to enhance lubrication and improve surface quality during glass machining operations.
Vacuum Impregnation with Liquid Sulfur (VPI)
Vacuum impregnation allows complete and homogeneous penetration of liquid sulfur into the ceramic binder that holds the abrasive grains. The result is an abrasive tool with superior technical properties and extended operational life.
How does this technology support glass manufacturers?
Superfinishing stones are essential for the final surface finishing and edge processing of glass products. The sulfur impregnation under vacuum and high temperature conditions creates a sliding film that acts as a lubricant between the abrasive stone and the glass surface.
Automated Impregnation Plants – Industry 4.0 Ready
Brizio Basi develops fully computerized impregnation systems equipped with PED-certified autoclaves and programmable recipes:
-
Working temperatures adjustable from 0 to 200 °C
-
Vacuum up to 0.5 mbar
-
Pressure up to 3 bar
-
Dedicated 250 L sulfur tank
-
Automatic workpiece carrier handling
Each system is entirely engineered and manufactured in-house to meet the specific production requirements of our partners in the glass sector.
With more than 100 years of experience in vacuum technologies and over five decades serving the glass and tooling sector, Brizio Basi stands as a trusted partner for companies seeking reliability, innovation, and performance in their production processes.
